What Is the UK Business Visitor Visa?

The Standard Visitor Visa (Business Route) allows overseas professionals to enter the UK temporarily for a wide range of permitted business activities.
It is ideal for business owners, investors, journalists, representatives, specialists, and employees visiting on short-term business assignments.

Who Can Apply?

You can apply if you are visiting the UK to conduct business activities without taking employment or engaging in prohibited work.

To qualify, you must show:

You will leave the UK at the end of your visit

You can financially support yourself

You have proof of business activities (invitation letters, contracts, conference tickets, etc.)

You are genuinely visiting and not attempting to work illegally

Permitted Business Activities in the UK

You may visit the UK for up to 6 months to carry out the following:

1. Attend Professional Events

Interviews , Meetings , Conferences, Seminars

2. Negotiate Business Deals

Signing contracts, Negotiating commercial agreements

3. Attend Trade Fairs

You may promote your business, but selling products is not allowed.

4. Receive Training

If your overseas employer requires specialist UK-based training that is unavailable in your country.

5. Deliver Short Talks (Unpaid / Non-commercial)

You may give a one-off or short professional talk, as long as it’s not a commercial or paid event.
Paid engagements require a Permitted Paid Engagement Visa, not a Standard Visitor Visa.

6. Conduct Site Visits & Inspections

You can carry out property or facility inspections related to your overseas role.

7. Oversee Deliveries of Goods or Services

This includes checking on UK-supplied goods/services for your overseas company.

8. Deliver Internal Training or Share Expertise

You may work with UK-based employees of your overseas company on internal projects.

9. Install, Repair, or Advise on Equipment/Software

If your overseas company has a contract with a UK organisation, you may:

Install or dismantle equipment, Repair or service systems, Provide specialist advice
