The employer must be a British citizen usually living outside the UK or a foreign citizen visiting the UK for not more than 6 months. They are required to pay the domestic worker at least the national minimum wage.
Necessary documents include a valid passport, financial proof (like bank statements or payslips), a signed ‘Appendix domestic worker statement’, and employment confirmation. Pay slips, tax, and insurance confirmations, or a contract of employment may also be required.
Visa extensions are available only for those who applied before 5 April 2012, allowing them to extend annually and potentially settle in the UK after 5 years.
To extend, applicants must have applied for their visa on or before 5 April 2012, be living in the UK, and apply while still in the UK. For settlement, they need to have legally lived in the UK for 5 years as a domestic worker, without relying on public funds.
